Saved by CPR: The Stories Behind Our Mission

"My wife isn’t a paramedic. She’s a retired accountant. But she saved my life."

At 2:30 AM on a September night, I went into cardiac arrest in my sleep. My wife Karen, awakened by the sound of my agonal breathing, called 911 and immediately began CPR—training she’d taken five years earlier at work. Thanks to her fast action and the rapid response of first responders, I survived. Today, nearly a decade later, I’m healthy and active.
CPR saves lives. Anyone can learn it.
